iPhone Provisioning Profile disappearing
So, I’m delving back into iPhone App stuff for a day or so, just for a few tweaks and improvements. I didn’t expect it to go without a hitch, but I didn’t expect XCode to tell me I couldn’t install the app due to a code signing error.
Sigh.
To cut a long story short, XCode (for whatever mystic reason) wasn’t recognising my Provisioning Profile. It was appearing under the Devices section in Organiser, but not under the IPhone Development section.
I’d been through similar before, so I deleted the profiles in XCode, went into the Program Portal, created a new Profile, and tried again. Still no dice, so I restarted XCode, the handset, and finally the Mac.
Nothing worked. Close to tearing my hair out, I finally dug around in the Mac folders and found where XCode is meant to copy the profiles when you drag them into Organiser.
~/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning Profiles/
It was empty, so I manually copied the profile over and hey presto, back in business.
Apple can make something as good as the iPhone, yet they can’t get XCode – or iTunesConnect for that matter – to behave at all.
