About

Hello, my name is Graham Bradley; I’m a web developer working in Edinburgh, Scotland, and this is my little corner of the web where I write about geekery such as JavaScript, and other things besides.

What do you do?

At the moment I have the pleasure of working at Rocket Visuals, with a lot of my time spent on developing Blipfoto.com, an excellent photo journal community.

Prior to Rocket, I was lead developer for the Flyglobespan airline. There I was responsible for the redevelopment of their customer-facing site, and many other behind-the-scenes shenanigans.

I’m the creator of the Ignite JavaScript library, which I tend to tinker with and update quite regularly.

Why do you do it?

Not coming from a computer science background, I come to professional web development after a few years of JavaScript tinkering during University and various jobs thereafter. After deciding my design skills where lacking, I taught myself some programming basics and haven’t looked back.

During that time I took on a few freelance jobs, mostly using ASP and PHP, but found myself constantly looking towards JavaScript – probably because of the interface aspects, which I still find one of the more interesting aspects of web development.

What else do you do?

I’m the first to admit that I probably spend too much time in front of a computer screen. When I’m not doing that, I like to spend time with my wife (who is actually more of a geek than I am), reading, watching movies, and playing a hand or two of poker. And when I get tired of all this internet malarkey, I’d love to open a coffee shop called Robot Juice and listen to music all day.

Can I follow you on twitter?

Absolutely not. Ok, I succumbed and figured I’d try not to be so cynical. @kissmyawesome for my stream of nonsense.
